The Program

The Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) is a Federal Institution of Higher Education whose institutional philosophy and policy are centered on the study of the coastal ecosystem.

FURG is located in the municipality of Rio Grande (RS), whose distinctive features include its position at the mouth of the Patos Lagoon, an extensive beach (Cassino), the largest seaport in southern South America, an industrial complex dominated by the fishing industry and the chemical industry (petroleum and fertilizers), and an area of high ecological importance that includes part of the Taim Ecological Reserve.

The Master's Program in Mechanical Engineering was created with the goal of consolidating a regional hub of technological development in metalworking manufacturing. This hub aims to qualify professionals from companies established in the region, as well as graduates of engineering programs. The program's guiding principle is to develop applied research on metalworking production processes, contributing to the consolidation of the Rio Grande Naval Pole.

Mission

To promote the advancement of knowledge and comprehensive education with excellence, training human resources in the area of Manufacturing Engineering who are capable of contributing to human development and the improvement of socio-environmental quality, and to strengthen the relationship between the University and regional companies through research of mutual interest.

Vision

To become a reference in research, education, and technological development in Manufacturing Engineering in the south of Brazil.
